FAQ

Troubleshooting

What happens if someone unplugs the charging cord from my vehicle during a charging session?

ChargePoint charging stations keep you informed of your vehicle's charging session at all times. As a ChargePass Card user, you can elect to receive text or Email notifications for Plug-Out, Vehicle Fully Charged, GFCI Trip and Over Current events. If someone happens to unplug your vehicle during a charging session, the charging station will remove power from the cord immediately and the charging station will let you know with a text or Email message per your preference.

If I am paying for a charging session, how will I get billed if the charging cord is unplugged from my vehicle?

A charging session ends when the charging cord is removed from your vehicle. The bill you will receive is only for the time that the charging session begins delivering electric fuel to your vehicle to the time that the plug is removed. For example, if the charging station owner has set a $4.00 per hour price and the charging cord is removed after a half an hour has passed, you will be billed for $2.00. Your bill is prorated to the nearest minute. You will not be billed for any time if the plug is removed before the charging session begins.

What if I have a problem getting a ChargePoint Charging Station to work?

Call the 888 toll free number on your card (and on the charging station), and an operator will assist you.

What if I lose my Smart Card in the middle of a charging session?

Call the 888 toll free number on your card (and on the charging station), identify yourself as the subscriber that started the session, and an operator will be able to remotely open the door to the charging station.

What if my favorite charging station is occupied or out of service and I don't have web access?

Call the 888 toll free number on your card (and on the charging station), identify yourself as a subscriber, and an operator will direct you to the nearest unoccupied charging station. This is a free service for a limited time only.

What happens if there is a power failure while I'm charging my plug-in vehicle? How do I get my cord back?

During a power failure, the Coulomb ChargePoint Networked Charging Station will unlock. This is a patented feature. When power is restored, charging will resume, as long as your cord is plugged in. You can terminate the charging session normally with your Smart Card, remove your cord and the station will re-lock.

Which browsers are supported?

ChargePoint Network portals are officially supported in Microsoft Internet Explorer versions 7.0 and 8.0, and Mozilla Firefox versions 3.0 and 3.5, with a minimum resolution of 1024x768 in all cases. Some rich internet application content may not render correctly in other browsers, versions, and platforms.
